Detective John Dacey is responsible for the investigation of homicides, suicides and reported deaths, robbery, burglary, rape and sexual assault, arson, larcenies, and other serious crimes.  He also works in conjunction with a number of local, state and federal agencies.

Additionally, the Detective Unit is responsible for assisting patrol officers, conducting undercover surveillance operations, search warrants, establishing, maintaining and processing crime scenes, collecting evidence and submitting it for analysis, conducts background checks and apprehends persons with outstanding arrest warrants.
