The Edgartown Police Department is committed to providing law enforcement services that are fair, effective, and impartially applied. A relationship of trust and confidence between the employees of the Edgartown Police Department and the citizens of the community is essential to the successful accomplishment of law enforcement objectives. It is in the best interest of everyone that each complaint about the performance of an individual officer is resolved fairly and promptly. The Edgartown Police Department has formal procedures for investigating complaints against officers or employees (EPD Policy & Procedure 4.01 Internal Affairs).
If you wish to file an official complaint with the Edgartown Police Department please click the download complaint form below, complete the form, and submit it to a supervisor at the Police Station. If you do not wish to complete the form you may simply call (508) 627-4343, ask to speak with a supervisor, and he/she will complete the form on your behalf.
*Anonymous complaints – No complaint will be rejected solely because it is anonymous, as anonymous complaints can often be a valuable source of information and will be considered on their individual merits. Care must be taken, however, that department employees are not subjected to unjust, frivolous, or capricious complaints. Keep in mind that without leaving any contact information we have no ability to follow-up with you or seek further information if needed.
